The North End Community Renewal Corporation (NECRC), in partnership with Aboriginal Music Week, North End non-profit organizations and our many sponsors, is pleased to announce the 17th annual Picnic in the Park. The Picnic in the Park is a free community event that started in 1999. Picnic celebrates the cultural diversity of the North End and aims to present a positive image of the community. The event now has over 4,000 community members attending and that number continues to grow. The event includes free food, children’s activities, cultural entertainment, prizes, artist and craft sales and organization information booths. The Picnic will take place rain or shine: Saturday, August 22, 2015 – St. John’s Park, Winnipeg MB – 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM “Picnic is in its seventeenth year and going strong,” says Robert Neufeld, Executive Director at NECRC, “we celebrate the culture and diversity of the North End by providing different foods, activities and entertainment to represent as many cultures as we can.” Neufeld says, “It’s great to have so many partners working together and this year we are especially pleased to partner with Aboriginal Music Week.” Our community partners include: Aboriginal Visioning for the North End, the City of Winnipeg, Mount Carmel Clinic, North End Women’s Centre, FACT, and St. John’s Residents Association.
