The 2017 Community Housing Improvement Initiative (CHII) Exterior Fix-up Grant applications are now available for William Whyte and North Point Douglas communities. Applications have been delivered door to door, however if you didn’t see one in your mailbox you can either pick one up at our offices at 509 Selkirk Ave. or download and print your application from our website. Landlord applications are being mailed out to landlords in our contact database the week of May 10th, if you haven’t received the application package yet, you may download and print the application/criteria and TLC letter below. Grants for the communities of St. John’s, Dufferin and Lord Selkirk Park are on hold pending funding approval and will be updated on this page upon funding confirmation. If you are unsure which community you live in please email Tracy Proctor, Housing Resource Coordinator, at housinggrants@necrc.org. Provincial CHII Grants Update We have received formal notice that the Province of Manitoba has made the difficult decision discontinue the Community Housing Improvement Initiative (CHII) funding that provided for small exterior homeowner fix-up grants within the communities of William Whyte, North Point Douglas, Dufferin, St. John’s and Lord Selkirk Park. We are saddened to lose these grants in our North End communities as they have enabled community-wide improvements and leveraged significant investment in Winnipeg’s core-area communities. We are grateful to the Province of Manitoba for the eleven years (2006-2016) of CHII investment they have supported in the North End in partnership with the community. It has made a difference in our communities and many residents we encounter feel the area has improved noticeably in that time....

The 2016 Storefront Enhancement Grant (SEG) applications are now available. A recent distribution to the North End business community and non-profit organizations through known emails has been undertaken. Only North End business and non-profit organizations are eligible for the grant which is provided by NA! (Neighbourhoods Alive). Applications are available here or can be picked up at the Business Development Centre or by request to richard@necrc.org. WINNIPEG, MB – – The North End Community Renewal Corporation (NECRC) in partnership with Merchants Inc. will celebrate and recognize its major donors who have contributed over $1.35 million dollars to the development of Merchants Corner. On Wednesday April 22, 2015 at 607 Selkirk Ave, Winnipeg MB – 11:00 AM, six (6) major donors will be announced and celebrated for their vision and support. “The issues that confront our inner city are legendary and the Merchants Hotel was one of the most egregious examples. This redevelopment undertaken and supported by many is an outstanding example of what can be accomplished if we have a common focus and purpose” Mr. Michael Nesbitt “The Winnipeg Foundation was able to play a role in the redevelopment of Merchants Corner thanks to our donors who support great ideas, dedicated people and solid partnerships. This grant was made by the Moffat Family Fund, an endowment that has had huge impact on Winnipeg. Merchants Corner demonstrates the strength, vision and commitment of people in this neighbourhood and it’s inspiring to our entire city,” said Winnipeg Foundation CEO Rick Frost. These funds added to the $9.1 previously announced brings the total project funding to $10.45 of the $12.8 million dollars required for this project. Please see individual criteria/application form for more information on your specific community. You can print an application off of here, or you should have one delivered to your mailbox between April 22nd and 29th. The application deadline is Friday May 8th at 4pm.
