Making delicious, healthy meals on a tight budget is possible—and we’re here to show you how! These free, hands-on cooking classes are designed for anyone who wants to cook with confidence while saving money.

You don’t need fancy tools or expensive ingredients—just the right skills, simple staples, and a little support.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Affordable Pantry Staples: How to make the most of items like rice, beans, pasta, eggs, and frozen veggies.
  • Batch Cooking: Prep once, eat multiple times—save time and money.
  • One-Pot & Sheet Pan Meals: Discover easy recipes that minimize prep and cleanup, like stir-fries, casseroles, and roasted dinners.
  • Meal Planning & Budgeting: Learn how to shop smart, reduce food waste, and stretch ingredients across multiple meals.
  • Seasoning Hacks: Enhance flavor without expensive ingredients using simple herbs, spices, and techniques.

No experience needed. Come as you are and leave with the know how to make meals you can make again and again!

Pickling & Water Bath Canning:

Pickle & Preserve with Confidence!

Looking to make your fresh foods last longer—or just love the tangy crunch of homemade pickles? Join us for fun, hands-on classes focused on pickling and water bath canning, a safe and simple method perfect for preserving fruits and vegetables at home.

Whether you’re new to canning or want to refresh your skills, this class will give you everything you need to get started.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Pickling Techniques: Learn to pickle such things as cucumbers, carrots, onions, and more using simple ingredients and seasonings.
  • Water Bath Canning: Step-by-step guidance on using boiling water to safely seal jars and extend shelf life—no special equipment required.
  • Jar Prep & Safety Tips: Understand how to sterilize jars, create proper seals, and store your canned goods safely.
  • Flavor on a Budget: Create vibrant, homemade pickles using everyday ingredients and spices.

Take home the knowledge (and jars!) to help reduce waste, save money, and enjoy seasonal produce year-round.

All North End residents that are 17 in age or over are welcome to register! 

Children 12 in age or over are welcome accompanied by their guardian.
