NECRC continues to work with stakeholders and local residency associations to address the needs of the North End Community through the development of partnerships, networking and building community capacity. We also facilitate the Recreation and Leisure fund.
One of the key principles of our development philosophy is “to empower local people in the governance of the community economic development organization and of the community as a whole”.
NECRC works to accomplish this by taking comprehensive approach to community development. As we engage with our partners towards community renewal, we incorporate an approach that is comprehensive, holistic, multi-sectoral, long term, inclusive, asset based, and most importantly an approach that promotes community process and outcomes.
NECRC facilitates the North End Residents’ Coalition with representation from local North End resident associations such as William Whyte Neighbourhood Association, Luxton Residents’ Association, St. John’s Residents Association, Inkster North-End Residents’ Association and Point Douglas Residents Committee.
NECRC’s annual community events include Picnic in the Park in partnership with No Stone Unturned at St. John’s Park and our Selkirk Avenue Farmers’ Market in partnership with Community Helpers Unite during the summer.
